GIRLS COACHING STAFF
“An attempt to continually improve; a willingness to give all up for a cause; and sacrificing without expectation.” (Rudd, 2006). This definition illustrates both, the social and moral aspects of character that I look for within athletes, both on and off the court. Once a team learns to adopt this mindset and turns it into their mode of operation then you start to see what the team is made of. One of most exciting parts to me about coaching is the process of transformation, going through the trenches with your teammates, and coming out a better player and stronger person.

For us, volleyball is our way of life. We truly devote our time and passion into the game, and believe that when you are this committed to something, the dedication shows.
As coaches we want to see all of our players master the things they can control, their effort, attitude and confidence, and strive to develop the skills with the goal of reaching their full potential. We believe that is accomplished by working hard and pushing the players to expect success from themselves. We preach playing aggressively and with confidence. Playing with confidence and eliminating fear allow players to reach new heights that they have been unable to reach before.
As coaches we want to see the girls improve their skills but most of all grow as a person. We believe that being a member of a team builds lifelong skills that translate off the court.
Lastly, we want everyone to enjoy themselves and have a great time.

Volleyball is a team sport that provides real character building opportunities for all that partake. My goal is to provide teaching and guidance to all my players and assign them with responsibilities for their personal development and the development of the team. Personal accountability of these responsibilities is what allows for the most growth of my players both on and off the court. How each girl represents themselves, her team, her club and her family, are the most important factors of a successful player. Character leads to team chemistry, which leads to a successful team both on and off the court. My style is to provide instruction to each player regarding both individual skills and team concepts that are of equal importance.

From early on we are taught that making mistakes are a bad thing. My goal is to teach that making mistakes are ok as long as we learn from them. With that knowledge, combined with hard work and repetitions, the volleyball players confidence can grow.
Communication is also a very important part of a successful team. I will help them understand that talking on the court will build team energy and trust between each other and talking off the court will build strong bonds between the players. Both of these are a must in order to build good team chemistry.

- Tell me a little about yourself? I call Geneseo, New York my hometown. Growing up I played soccer, volleyball, basketball, and softball in high school. Some cheerleading in grade school and junior high and swam for a JO swim club for six years. My father was a standardbred racehorse trainer and I grew up on a huge horse farm. My mother and step-father worked for an agency that provided services and opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. I dedicated many summer and weekend service hours working with the individuals within the agency. My mom and step-dad moved to Illinois when I was a senior in high school and my father passed away right after I graduated. I attended junior college and played softball and volleyball. I then moved to Vermont and attend Castleton State College majoring in education, skiing, and mountain biking. I spent everyday possible on the ski slopes of Killington Mountain in the winter and summers mountain biking Mount Snow. This is actually where I began my love for coaching and teaching. After graduating Castleton, I moved to Illinois and began coaching my little sister’s softball and volleyball teams. Once my sister grew out of sports, my own daughters starting playing sports and I either coached or officiated within their programs and eventually was recruited to coach and officiate at the high school level. I’ve never looked back. It has now been almost 30 years of coaching and I have enjoyed every minute and still talk to at least one of two athletes from every team I have coached. The day we put a purchase offer in for our new house in West Bend I applied for the volleyball coaching position at West Bend East, was hired the following week, and couldn’t be happier! It has now been almost 30 years of coaching and I have enjoyed every minute and still talk to at least one of two athletes from every team I have coached.
- Why do you coach? Good question. I coach to encourage and build opportunities for the future. I coach to have fun and bring something that once gave me a sense of purpose, confidence, and joy to all that I possibly can. Sports allowed me an outlet to the everyday stresses of being a teen and I want to be sure that everyone has that opportunity for an outlet.
- What are your hobbies? Reading, learning (you can never stop learning), collecting Pez and Lego, visiting my family in Wales, traveling with my daughters, and just keeping busy.
I graduated from Lawrence University in 2019 and majored in Biology with an emphasis in Aquatic Ecology. I played on the NCAA team and received All-Conference Honors all four years and helped the program make an appearance in the Midwest Conference Tournament for the first time in Lawrence history. I am one of few individuals to accomplish over 1,000 digs and kills during my collegiate career and am the top 5 in the record books for both. Continuing to play in leagues and tournaments help me to improve on my own skills and knowledge of the game.
Playing volleyball throughout high school and college has provided me with many opportunities to coach. I’ve previously coached at FC Elite for their 16’s National Team in the 2016-2017 season and Wisconsin Blaze 12’s in the 2018-2019 season and helped lead skill sessions during the offseason for Blaze. I am looking forward to starting my coaching career with MVP.
I’ve been coaching for 6 years and have led 3 teams to nationals. As a former player I try to emulate all the best qualities of coaches I’ve had. I value leading by example and holding all players accountable both on and off the court.

I played volleyball for four years at Slinger High School, a semester at UW-Madison for the club team, and intramurals all four years of college. I have coached a youth league team and helped with camps back in high school, so this will be my first experience as a club coach. I am most excited for the opportunity to be a positive influence and role model for young girls and to share my passion of volleyball with others!
