JJ is not only passionate about the game; he truly understands the fundamentals and how important they are to how you perform in game play. JJ starts by focusing on breaking down the skills then progressing to the level of game play expected. Through the use of “game speed drills” players will be able to prepare for match play situations utilizing specific skills needed to win. On the court; passion, competitiveness, drive, hard work and most importantly playing as a “team” are a few key traits JJ looks for in his players. JJ strives to build team spirit so deep that the girls feel they are part of a family. He pushes his players to succeed at being the best players they can be, while increasing their love for the game of volleyball.

David became involved volleyball in his early 20's, playing two person sand and triples on grass. David and a group of friends were some of the very first to play at the Waupaca Boatride Tournament back when it was at the campground with just a few nets and a handful of people that lived for volleyball. David got to see it grow as it moved from the campground to a golf course driving range with upwards of 40 nets as it became a real event. Before he knew it, they were planning everything around this tournament (along with other smaller tournaments) and he ends up across the net from guys from Pepperdine University and facing the now famous Sean Rooney (back before he had turned pro).

David played for many years while his family grew, with the addition of two wonderful children. His son took the baseball route and his daughter to volleyball. He got into coaching his son (now in college) from the time he started tee ball. He coached him up through 5th grade where he then got into select ball and David turned the coaching over to others. At that time, his daughter was just starting volleyball at an early age at the YMCA. David coached her team for a few years before she was able to play Club at age 9/10 for the OVBC 11's. She has played for Oconomowoc for 5 years before joining the MVP family. In addition to her many medals, she was selected to the USAV A3 National Training Program 2 consecutive years and David and his wife, Nikki, are proud to travel with her on her many volleyball travels.

David has helped with team organization as a Team Parent. In addition, he is IMPACT Certified and has assistant coached. Coaching for David has always been rewarding and kept him connected to the sport he loves.

As a profession, David is the Vice President of Tanis Incorporated, a custom brush manufacturer located in Delafield with a second facility in Fond du Lac and a new facility in Mexico. He has been in executive management of businesses for many years. With his previous employer, in addition to the role of VP, he had ownership in the company and had the privilege of working with the management team to lead the entire company. This role led him to the current position he holds with Tanis.

David is also a former Volunteer Firefighter, EMT and Dive Rescue Specialist. He retired as Captain of the Okauchee Fire Department and has been a volunteer for over 13 years.

David is our Program Director, moving forward to help the organization grow from the business side in his second year in this role. He will be heavily involved in the organization of out Tune-Ups, Tryouts, Recruiting and Fundraising efforts. David brings a wealth of business experience and knowledge to our organization along with the drive to get things done right and efficiently.
